Umbrellas – Full iOS 8/9 Universal Minimal Chat App Template (Swift)
We are disappointed about Parse.com shutting its hosting service down on January 2017, as you may already know.
Anyway we don’t get discouraged and are thinking to switch into Apple CloudKit. We’ll have to run some test these days and if everything will work fine, we’ll then update all our apps that use Parse backend. You may follow us on Twitter to stay updated.
Thanks for reading!
This app template is a sort of “challenge” against WhatsApp, WeChat and all moderns chat apps
Umbrellas is a super minimal, old-fashioned conversations app where you can quickly login/sign up by just choosing a nickname and search for other users to chat with, no pictures or media, just text and links!
Why calling it Umbrellas? Because we’ve got inspired by an old chat website called Under Debbie’s Blue Umbrella, discovered while reading Stephen King’s Mr. Mercedes book
We hope you’ll enjoy this challenge as well as we did!
Since this app works with Parse™ backend, you can run it for the first time on XCode and browse users and demo chats to see this app in action, but we strongly recommend you to create your own app in your Parse.com console before sending any message (it’s FREE) and use your own Client and ID keys, otherwise you may mess up the demo database and experience some issues, because we clean our demo databases weekly.
This app is a native XCode project, Swift language, with Storyboard, super easy to customize. Check out its video preview to see it in action!
IMPORTANT: As per Envato rules, you must purchase Umbrellas under an Extended License if:
1. You plan to sell your own version of this app as a PAID app on the AppStore
2. You plan to add In-App Purchase to your own version of this template (which means that your users get charged of money).
3. You plan to sell your own version of this app on Flippa and similar markets.
Have fun with Umbrellas, and don’t forget to rate it on your Downloads page!
Important Disclaimer: We’ve recently found out that some developers have bought our app templates, reskinned them just a bit and put them on sale on other source code markets similar to CodeCanyon, saying that they developed and own such source codes.
